If you’ve been tuning in here, you were here when I posted my post about the variable and somewhat dubious lifespan of the written word in the face of the digital revolution. Now, with a Kinko’s blooming at every corner and HP and Canon releasing at-home printers that do beautiful work, we’re faced with yet another question. Why go to professional printers when you could just print your marketing materials at home?
That question, which a friend of mine actually asked last week, led me to put together a list (just for you, dear reader) of the benefits of bringing a professional printer into the loop.
1) Professional printers can print in bulk much more quickly than a personal printer-and you won’t be the one standing there with an ink cartridge in one hand and a pack of paper in the other!
2) Professional printers usually come with professional (and extremely talented) designers.
3) Print shops are far less likely to have technical difficulties with their hardware that leave your projects tied up for weeks than an at-home printer.
4) Thanks to the joys of digital printing, a professional printer will have the software they need to easily personalize your projects through variable printing.
5) Professional equipment typically provides a higher quality product than you’ll find if you decide to cut your friendly neighborhood printer out of the picture and do it yourself.
6) You have many, many more options when working with professional printers because you aren’t forced to work with your own equipment and material limitations.
And let’s not forget the fact that professional printers are really, genuinely fun people!
